Gary Lefer, MD

Gary Lefer, MD is Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. After graduating from Stanford University and Georgetown University Medial Center, Dr. Lefer completed his training at the New York Psychoanalytic Institute.

Dr. Lefer is currently Director of Acute Psychiatric Services Division at the St. Luke’s Roosevelt Medical Center. This division provides in excess of 6,000 psychiatric emergency room visits each year. Dr. Lefer also directs a 32 bed inpatient psychiatric unit and an acute outpatient psychiatric clinic providing more than 25,000 visits each year.
