Taken from sources as varied as childrens’ coloring books, storybooks, catalogues, and even the yellow pages, Baechler pieces images together like a quilt which serves as the background for his own paintings and drawings. Using thick outlines and images of child-like simplicity, he tries to convey the essence of what he depicts. In this bold and simple work, Baechler draws an ordinary flower that springs forth from a patchwork of assembled images.
