Born in 1955 in Washington D.C., Katherine Bowling studied at Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1978. She has been a recipient of a National Endowment Artists Fellowship and a New York State Foundation for the Arts Fellowship and is known for her modernist landscape paintings. She splits her time between Manhattan and upstate New York.
