RxArt is thrilled to be working with Rashid Johnson on a new project at Loma Linda University Children’s Health – Indio Campus, located in Southern California’s Coachella Valley. This new clinic will offer primary care, specialty services, urgent care and dentistry. Johnson’s work will welcome patients into the clinic with an interactive sculpture in the lobby, which will be activated with plants and books to be enjoyed. “I like the fact that my artwork is alive,” says Johnson. “I’ve always felt that my work was meant to be given away.” His kaleidoscopic imagery of tropical settings will be installed as wall coverings in the x-ray suite, creating an inviting aesthetic throughout the new center.
Part of the Loma Linda University Health system, the Indio Campus will meet the demands of the growing population in the Coachella Valley, where children will now have access to specialized care in Downtown Indio. Currently, there is only one doctor for every 9,000 residents in the Coachella Valley. The Indio Campus is projected to accommodate 60,000 unique visits each year, offering life-saving medical care to an under-served population.
Every RxArt project is made possible at no cost to our partner hospital. For more information on this project and how to support it, contact Megan Skidmore at 212-260-8797 or firstname.lastname@example.org or click the red “Support This Project” button.
