PIPELINE: Shara Hughes for Phoenix Children’s Hospital

RxART is excited to be working with Shara Hughes on a project for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Her calming and mesmerizing landscapes will grace the walls of the hospital’s central corridor and elevator bay, which encompasses over 5,300 square feet. From emergency department and helipad arrivals to inpatient and ambulatory transfers, this is the first point of entry for nearly all patients as they are admitted or routed to their care areas.

Approximately 70,000 patients will experience Hughes’ RxART installation at Phoenix Children’s Hospital each year. The 2021-22 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Children’s Hospitals,” ranked Phoenix Children’s Hospital for the 11th consecutive year, and the hospital has been recognized for 10 out of 10 ranked specialties, including Cardiology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery, among other specialties.

RxART produces every project at no cost to the hospital and provides each commissioned artist with an honorarium. RxART is grateful to The Molly Blank Fund of the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation and The Rallis Foundation for generous lead support of this project and thankful for the support from Dawn and David Lenhardt, The Opatrny Family Foundation, Gould Art Advisory, David Kordansky, Pilar Corrias, and Meredith and Charlie von Arentschildt.
