RxART is thrilled to be working with Takashi Murakami on a project for Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC. Murakami will create a colorful and intricate design to be transplanted into a wrap for the CT/PET Scanner and wall coverings for the CT Suite. His work will transform the frightening CT/PET Scan Suite into an inviting space, in an effort to alleviate the anxiety that many children feel in a medical setting.
Approximately 220 PET and 2,290 CT scans are performed annually on the scanner located within the 2nd floor suite at Children’s National. Pediatric patients of all ages are scanned on this unit: neonates, toddlers, young children, adolescents and young adults. Children’s National is ranked among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the country. The hospital is #1 for babies and is ranked in every specialty evaluated by U.S. News & World Report.
RxART produces every project at no cost to the hospital and offers each commissioned artist an honorarium and chance to change children’s lives as they heal.
