Child Life Supervisor, Hospital for Special Surgery

We love the coloring books. My older [patient] population light up, when I offer them something developmentally appropriate and geared toward their age. When I introduce myself as the Child Life Specialist I think some teens wonder what I am going to offer them, but your RxART Coloring Book is a staple, and an exciting item that I can offer them. I have found it helpful for those in pain, really needing a distraction, those parents that need a step away from the bedside, etc. I set up a mother with one in the Child Life playroom a few weeks ago, as she just needed a break. She dove right in and didn’t look up for quite a while.
