AVAF’s colorful, lively work was installed in Metropolitan Hospital Center’s La Clinica del Barrio’s waiting area in Harlem, New York on December 2014. Founded in 1997, La Clínica’s staff ensures that patients receive high-quality care in a welcoming and modern environment. La Clínica offers primary care for the whole family, including prenatal care, pediatrics, and general medicine.
Through visual stimulation, interaction, and entertainment AVAF’s work illuminates the clinic’s waiting area, alleviating stress and high-anxiety inherent in hospital waiting rooms. Energy vibrates throughout AVAF’s dynamic work making it the perfect space for children’s minds to wander and to escape into their imaginations. This project was made possible through the generosity of RxArt board member Glori Cohen.
RxArt is delighted to collaborate with AVAF on a project that supports its mission transforming pediatric hospital facilities into comforting and engaging spaces through site-specific installations by contemporary artists. RxArt is proud to have worked with artists such as Jeff Koons, Rob Pruitt, Ryan McGinley and Will Cotton to transform over twenty hospitals to date.
