RxART is proud to have worked with Rob Pruitt on a project for the Radiology Department at CHOC Children’s in Orange, CA. Pruitt has completed an extensive installation for multiple areas of the hospital’s Radiology Department including the waiting room and the hallways that lead to the ultrasound, x-ray and MRI rooms. Pruitt also transformed the CT suite and scanner into an immersive experience, adding a lifesaver to the scanner with a moveable seagull perched on top as a fun distraction for the young patients.

The artist’s iconic pandas grace the walls of CHOC, frolicking with marine companions in a playful seascape that brings the nearby Southern California coastline inside. Pruitt began making his beloved panda paintings nearly two decades ago. He believes the animal serves as a reminder to “revere nature, tread lightly on the earth and treat one another with compassion.” His work introduces a spirit of adventure that will inspire the thousands of young patients and their families who will experience it.

CHOC ‘s Radiology Department is the only pediatric radiology and imaging facility just for kids in Orange County. Over 85,000 procedures were performed in the department between 2016 and 2017. Ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, CHOC’s mission is to “nurture, advance, and protect the health and well-being of children,” which RxArt is committed to complementing with this project.

Every RxART project is made possible at no cost to our partner hospital. RxART is truly grateful for lead support of this project provided by The Rallis Foundation. For more information on this project and how to support RxART, contact Megan Skidmore at 212-260-8797 or megan_skidmore@rxart.net.
