RxART is proud to have had the pleasure of working with Urs Fischer again, this time on a project for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. RxART in partnership with FIGS launched children’s PJs designed by Fischer and produced by FIGS for the patients at CHLA. Fischer’s design features a pattern filled with his well-known snowman, who appears in an array of accessories and activities, as well as other animal friends at play – imagery that will make patients feel comfortable and special. FIGS PJs have full back coverage so that every child feels comfortable and can focus on what matters most – getting better. One thousand units of PJs were given to the hospital.
“I have been in children’s hospitals with children who are not doing well. And when you’re in there, it gets very real,” said Urs Fischer. “Anything you can do helps, if they feel it’s a place with care, it elevates the situation. We all have this memory of the one cool t-shirt we had when we were five and you put it on and you feel invincible. That’s the goal [with the PJ Project] and I won’t fail. It’s this idea that something can give you this kind of energy.”
FIGS creates technically advanced apparel and products for healthcare professionals that feature an unmatched combination of comfort, durability, function, and style. The PJ Project was created by FIGS in 2016 to bring dignity, comfort, and a sense of home to children by transforming the standard-issue patient gown.
Every RxART project is made possible at no cost to our partner hospitals. The Urs Fischer PJ Project for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is made possible with great thanks to FIGS and supported by Catherine and Kate Montgomery and the Mark and Caroline Montgomery Memorial Fund of the Santa Barbara Foundation.
