RxArt is thrilled to unveil our project with Rashid Johnson , whose work was installed at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford in early 2023. Johnson’s Seascape imagery crowns the hospital’s two Gastroenterology treatment rooms, where over 18,000 patients receive care annually. In the busy rooms, patients will be able to focus their attention on Johnson’s blue boat-like images floating along the walls above the bright lights. His kaleidoscopic Escape imagery has been installed in a Serenity Lounge and three waiting rooms in the hospital’s Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services that cater to approximately 4,500 expectant and new mothers each year, along with their family members.
The artist shared, “RxART is such an amazing organization. I couldn’t be happier to be collaborating with them and hopefully making children and families who are experiencing a complicated time, feel a little bit better.”
Every RxART project is produced at no cost to the hospital and provides each commissioned artist with an honorarium.
