Alex Dordoy

Alex Dordoy (b. 1985, Newcastle, UK) is a London-based painter and sculptor who engages with technology as both an extension and reduction of traditional art forms. Dordoy manipulates his own source imagery in photoshop and transfers the manipulated image into a physical painting. These recontextualized images rarely include a living figure, merely the fleeting presence of civilization in the form of an empty canoe or a tattered flag.

Dordoy has been featured in recent solo exhibitions at the Modern Institute, Glasgow (2021); GRIMM, New York (2020); GRIMM, Amsterdam (2018); and Kunstmuseum, the Hague (2015), among others. His work is held in the private collections of AKZO Nobel Art Foundation, Amsterdam (NL); David Roberts Art Foundation, London (UK); and Kuntsmuseum, and The Hague (NL). Dordoy’s drawings are featured in Between the Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists – Volume 8Click here to download and color his spread.
