Jonathan Chapline

Jonathan Chapline (b. 1987, Savannah, GA) is a Brooklyn-based artist who utilizes 3-D programs to render photographs and collages of interiors, nudes, and still-lifes into voluminous abstracted forms painted on canvas. Inspired by Greco-Roman sculpture, mid-century modern interiors, and early computer-generated color gradients, Chapline has developed a distinct painting style and other worldly sculptures.

Chapline has been featured in solo exhibitions at The Hole, New York (2021); Nanzuka Underground, Tokyo (2020); among others. His work is included in the permanent collections at X Museum, Bejiing and the ICA Miami. Chapline’s drawings are featured in Between the Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists – Volume 8.
