Elizabeth Neel

Elizabeth Neel (b. 1975, Stowe, VT) utilizes abstraction to explore hypnosis, the body, chaos, and order. By dripping, rolling, brushing and printing paint, Neel creates a series of expressionistic marks that explode across raw canvas. Interested in semiotics, Neel has created a series of common symbols throughout her work as a means of unlocking the narrative potential of abstraction.

Recent solo exhibitions of Neel’s work have been held at Mary Boone Gallery, New York (2018); Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, Culver City, California (2017); Pilar Corrias, London (2016); and Sikkema Jenkins & Co., NY (2013), among others. She lives and works in New York City. Neel is featured in Between The Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists – Volume 8.
