Ricky Swallow (b. 1974, San Remo, Victoria, Australia) is a Los Angeles-based artist who garnered attention for his highly detailed wooden sculptures in the tradition of baroque still-lifes, memento mori, and trompe l’oeil. Recently, the sculptor has turned towards bronze sculptures inspired by folk art “make-dos” found in Los Angeles flea markets. Swallow is fascinated by these creative antique repairs and focuses on the same spirit of inventiveness in his own work.

Swallow has been featured in recent solo exhibitions at David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles (2018); Modern Art, London (2018); Maccarone, New York City (2017); and David Kordansky Gallery, Los Angeles (2015), among others. Swallow is featured in Between the Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists – Volume 8. Click here to download and color his drawing spread.
