Tomokazu Matsuyama (b. 1976, Japan) is a contemporary artist who is keenly aware of the nomadic diaspora, a community of wandering people who seek to understand their place in a world full of contrasting visual and cultural dialects. He received his MFA in Communications Design at Pratt Institute. Matsuyama appropriates from a vast amount of sources ranging from fragmented snippets of pop culture to the iconography of Renaissance masters as well as centuries-old works of art.  The artist lives and works in Brooklyn, NY

Recent solo exhibitions include Kavi Gupta, Chicago, IL (2022); Long Museum West Bund, Shanghai, China (2020); Hong Kong Contemporary Art (HOCA) Foundation (2017); Rauchauer Institute at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA (2013), among others. His large-scale public works can be found all over the world including in New York City, Tokyo, Los Angeles, etc.

RxART is excited to announce that we are working with Tomokazu on a future project for the new Nappi Wellness Institute at SUNY Upstate in Syracuse, NY.
