Jamea Richmond-Edwards (b. 1982, Detroit, MI) is inspired by the aesthetics of hip-hop fashion from her youth in ‘90s Detroit. Her mixed-media canvases serve as collaged explorations of fashion within the Black community. She seeks to counter history’s exclusion of Black women from arts and cultural institutions alike.

Recent solo exhibitions of Richmond-Edwards’ work have been held at the South Bend Museum of Art, South Bend, IN (2019); Kravets Wehby Gallery, New York (2019); and CulturalDC, Washington D.C. (2019), among others. Richmond-Edwards lives and works in Silver Spring, MD. Richmond-Edwards is featured in Between the Lines: An RxART Coloring Book by Contemporary Artists – Volume 8.
