Samantha Rosenwald (b. 1994, Los Angeles, CA) is a Los Angeles-based artist who works primarily in paint and colored pencil. Her comedic paintings are inspired by her experience growing up as the “frizzy-haired, comically chubby chicken nugget” in body-obsessed Los Angeles. Her work often merges the comedic and anxiety-provoking aspects of living in a world with oppressive beauty standards.
Rosenwald has been featured in recent solo exhibitions at The Ice House, Garrison, NY (2021); Arsenal Contemporary, NY (2021); Eve Leibe Gallery, London, UK (2021); and Annarumma Gallery, Naples, Italy (2020), among others.
